About Nickie
After raising a family, I pursued a career in counseling to help clients who are experiencing personal and family challenges. Having overcome my own life challenges, it is my belief that we can gain strength and insight when we overcome personal adversity. It is my hope that through counseling, I can give guidance to others as they strive to overcome their own personal challenges.
During my career, I have experience working with individuals and families in a variety of settings. I have worked with children in a school environment, which included collaboration with school personnel, Department of Family and Children’s Services, Department of Juvenile Justice, and the court system. My work experience has also included working with multi-generational families through the Grandparents Raising Grandchildren program, as well as with caregivers providing care for an ill or aging family member.
To help you develop personal resilience, I provide guidance as you reflect on your experiences and circumstances; we explore thoughts, feelings and challenges; I help you identify strengths, values and needs; I explain strategies of positive psychology, coping skills, wellness activities and spiritual awareness.
I have a Master’s degree in Social Work from UGA. I am licensed by the state of Georgia as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (License No. CSW005839). I am also a member of the National Association of Social Workers.
